OPITO training standard 5700 & 5902

The aim of the BOSIET is to introduce delegates to the specific safety issues and regimes relevant to offshore installations and to equip them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for traveling to and from offshore installations by helicopter. The objectives of the BOSIET Training are that delegates will be able to:

(a) Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas installations, potential risks associated with those hazards, and how controls are put in place to eliminate or reduce risks.

(b) Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts

(c) Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching

(d) Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques

(e) Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practice self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, to include smoke-filled areas.

Important: There are physical and mental aspects of this training including training in a water, enclosed spaces, as well activities with fire.

Course includes additional training in Norwegian Transit Suit & Emergency Breathing System according to North Sea Mutual Acceptance of Basic Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training Memorandum.

When travelling by helicopter to and from offshore installations in the UK and the Netherlands passengers will also need a CA-EBS certificate. It is to be expected that the Danish sector will follow soon.

The Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) Initial Deployment training programme is designed for personnel travelling to or from offshore installations/vessels via helicopter where a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System will be provided for use in the case of an emergency ditching. The Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) Initial Deployment training programme provides the delegate with the knowledge and understanding of the particular hazards and properties of a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) and appropriate emergency response actions to take should the requirement for emergency use arise.

Delegate pre-requisites: No prerequisites are required.

Health: The course may involve a degree of physical and mental stress. Therefore delegates will be required to complete a Medical Screening Form prior to the commencement of the course. The delegate should be in possession of a valid medical certificate if their health is in doubt.

NB ! If you need Offshore Medical Fitness Certificate, you can get Norwegian Certificate of Medical Fitness issued on behalf of Helsedirektoratet (Norway) now in Tallinn. This Certificate is accepted by UK and NL as OGUK medical certificate. Please contact us for more information.
