All passengers travelling to North Sea Installations are required to sit in a seat where the nearest Push-out emergency exit window is compatible with their body size, and a shoulder bi-deltoid measurement service is required to make this assessment. As part of these regulations, all helicopter passengers have to be measured by the width of their shoulders by accedited measurers.
Those with a shoulder width of more than 55.9 cm (22”) are classed as extra broad (XBR), and are required to sit in helicopter seat next to a window compatible with their shoulder size. Those with a shoulder width of 55.9 cm or less are classed as regular.
Shoulder measurement is conducted by Accredited Measurers (License PSTT038-M105 and PSTT038-M104).
Delegates are issued with accepted Shoulder Width (Bi-Deltoid) Measurement certificate upon completion of measurement.
