Approval achieved for OPITO BOSIET, FOET and HUET courses

12.04.2017 13:30

Dear friends and customers,

We are glad to announce that two years of our hard work has borne fruit and today, 12.04.2017, we have received confirmation from OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization) that we have successfully passed an audit and we may carry out offshore basic safety course under OPITO high-quality badge. From now on we can conduct OPTIO approved BOSIET, FOET and HUET courses. The gap, which laid over north and north-east Europe in regard to these courses, has been filled in by Reval Marine and Offshore Training. Estonia has been brought on maps yet on another subject – the nearest approved training center is more than 1000 km away in Denmark. No-one else in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland or western areas of Russia has such high accreditation. For more information please take a look http://www.opito.com/training-providers

BOSIET, FOET and HUET courses, that we now provide, are meant for those who are working or are planning to start working in the offshore energy sector, including offshore wind sector. For example helicopter underwater escape training (HUET) is meant for those who work on offshore installations, ships or in offshore wind farms, but also for those whose everyday profession requires flying over water in a helicopter.

We are especially glad that even higher standard of offshore safety training will pave the road for development of an important branch of the economy in our region – offshore wind energy.

Respectfully

Reval Marine and Offshore Training

Truly international HUET training

13.12.2016 12:48

Our training courses and facilities are gaining more and more international dimensions. We are glad to announce that we have conducted SWET and HUET and training for five Wärtsila service engineers from Lithuania. In fact the training course was truly international, as two instructors from Latvian offshore training centre BOTC (Baltic Offshore Training Centre) participated as well, this time as trainees. And finally, staff captain of Regent Seven Seas Cruises from Estonia participated as well, also this time as trainee.

This course is not in a category of simple ones, as there are some physical and mental aspects of this training including training in water and enclosed spaces.

Most important is that all attendees were fully satisfied with the outcome. See the video footage of most positively thrilling parts of the training course.

Shallow Water Egress Trainer (SWET) has arrived

02.12.2016 11:28

As you are probably aware, the Brooklyn Shallow Water Egress Trainer (SWET) chair originally designed by the United States Coastguard in New York, was an underwater procedures / familiarization device. They found that when they started to train their aircrew in an underwater escape trainer, many could not swim and were terrified when they got out of their depth. Many were afraid of the water, and many were frightened to open their eyes underwater. So, the SWET came into existence particularly to train aircrew on how to use their newly introduced Soniform LPU-25 Underwater Breathing Apparatus / Survival Vest. Therefore, from its origin, it was never intended to be a disorientation trainer. Over the years, however, the SWET chair has been, and is being, used as a disorientation trainer to train aircrew.

The SWET is an excellent familiarization device for students who may not be able to swim, are afraid of water and / or of being upside down inverted underwater, or who may be frightened to open their eyes underwater. The SWET is also a superb device for emergency egress underwater procedure training and the use of emergency breathing devices. Training results clearly demonstrate that the HUET is most adequate for disorientation training, and the SWET should be used for procedural training only.

All our Fast Rescue Boats are now equipped with AIS (Automatic Identification System)

26.11.2016 13:24

Our three professional Fast Rescue Boats are now equipped with AIS-s (Automatic Identification System) and boats positions and movements are visible on http://www.marinetraffic.com/, on surrounding ships electronic charts and radars.

Use of AIS-s on our Fast Rescue Boats makes the training significantly more effective and safe. Automatic transfer of information about boats position, speed to our shore based simulated MRCC and recording of significant movement parameters allows us to improve the quality of the training and make debriefings of exercises more deep and efficacious.

In a real Search and Rescue event, as Estonian Lifeboat Society SAR resource, boats SAR effectiveness is significantly higher. As the movement and location of SAR resources are visible in real time by JRCC, the Fast Rescue Boats activities are better managed and coordinated by JRCC.

If you like to know more about AIS, how it works and how to use it better join our AIS training course developed according to International Maritime Organization training Standards (IMO Model course 1.34).
