Reference to standard: US 49 Code of US Federal Regulations (CFR) Parts 170 - 180 and IMDG Code

If your vessel trades in United States waters, it is a federal requirement that you are trained in the handling of dangerous goods, or "HAZMAT procedures'. The United States Coast Guard Inspectors will look for more information than is provided by the standard IMDG Code training certificate when verifying this. They will look for references to particular clauses contained In the US Code of Federal Regulations. International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code is important for seafarers assigned to specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo or cargo equipment involving packaged dangerous, hazardous and harmful goods. This distance course delivers training on the legislation and requirements behind the shipboard procedures in which they are involved.Normally, HAZMAT Advanced training is applicable to ship officers.This training cover relevant parts of US 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Parts 170 - 180.
