STCW 2010 POLAR NAVIGATION BASIC TRAINING (CLASSROOM COURSE)

Course/event Title: BASIC TRAINING FOR SHIPS OPERATING IN POLAR WATERS

Reference to standard: STCW A-V/4 ja STCW koodeksi A-V/4-1 B-V/g

This course provides training to navigation officers to operate ships in polar waters and to address those additional provisions deemed necessary for consideration beyond existing requirements of the SOLAS and MARPOL Conventions, in order to take into account the climatic conditions of polar waters and to meet appropriate standards of maritime safety and pollution prevention. Learning objectives and learner outcomes:

Be able to read an ice-chart

Have knowledge on traffic restrictions in ice

Have basic knowledge on manoeuvring in ice

Be aware of the dangers with freezing of equipment

Have basic knowledge on voyage planning in ice

The combined study course consists of online study at home or at Reval training center, lecures and passing a written test at Reval training centre. In the morning of the day indicated in the schedule, we will send you e-mail instructions for logging in to the virtual learning environment.
